Modine Announces New Data Center Cooling Manufacturing Facility in India to Meet Growing Demand

Modine Manufacturing Company, a global leader in thermal management solutions, has announced plans to establish a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in India dedicated to producing advanced cooling systems for data centers. The new factory, set to be located in Gurgaon, Haryana, underscores Modine’s commitment to expanding its presence in the Asia-Pacific region and addressing the rapidly growing demand for energy-efficient data center cooling solutions.

The facility, which is expected to be operational by mid-2025, will focus on manufacturing Modine’s innovative DataCool® and HybridCool® systems, designed to optimize cooling efficiency and reduce energy consumption in data centers. The announcement comes as India’s data center market experiences exponential growth, driven by the country’s digital transformation, increasing cloud adoption, and the rollout of 5G networks.

Meeting the Demands of a Digital Economy

India is one of the fastest-growing data center markets in the world, with projections estimating the industry will reach $10 billion by 2026. This growth is fueled by the surge in data consumption, the rise of artificial intelligence (AI), and the expansion of hyperscale data centers by global tech giants such as Amazon Web Services (AWS)Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud.

Modine’s new facility will play a critical role in supporting this growth by providing cutting-edge cooling solutions that enhance energy efficiency and reliability. “As data centers become more complex and energy-intensive, efficient thermal management is essential to ensuring their sustainability and performance,” said Neil Brinker, President and CEO of Modine. “Our new factory in India will enable us to better serve our customers in this dynamic market while contributing to the country’s digital infrastructure development.”

Innovative Cooling Solutions for a Sustainable Future

Modine’s DataCool® and HybridCool® systems are renowned for their ability to deliver precise temperature control while minimizing energy consumption. These systems utilize advanced technologies such as adiabatic coolingvariable speed fans, and intelligent controls to adapt to varying workloads and environmental conditions, ensuring optimal performance and reducing operational costs.

The new facility will also incorporate sustainable manufacturing practices, including the use of renewable energy and water recycling systems, aligning with Modine’s global sustainability goals. “We are committed to reducing the environmental impact of our operations and products,” said Sanjay Singh, Modine’s Managing Director for India. “This facility will not only produce energy-efficient cooling solutions but will also set new standards for sustainable manufacturing in the region.”

Boosting Local Economy and Creating Jobs

The establishment of the Gurgaon facility is expected to create over 500 direct jobs and generate additional employment opportunities in the supply chain and related industries. Modine will also invest in training programs to equip local workers with the skills needed to operate advanced manufacturing equipment and deliver high-quality products.

“This investment reflects our confidence in India’s potential as a global hub for innovation and manufacturing,” said Brinker. “We are excited to contribute to the local economy and support the country’s vision of becoming a digital powerhouse.”

Strategic Expansion in a Key Market

India represents a strategic market for Modine, which has been expanding its footprint in the Asia-Pacific region over the past decade. The new facility will complement Modine’s existing operations in the region, including its sales and service offices in PuneBengaluru, and Chennai, as well as its manufacturing plants in China and Thailand.

The company’s decision to invest in India is also driven by the government’s supportive policies for manufacturing and technology, including the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme and the National Data Center Policy, which aims to promote the development of sustainable and secure data center infrastructure.

Looking Ahead

Modine’s new data center cooling factory in Gurgaon is a significant milestone in the company’s growth strategy and its commitment to innovation and sustainability. As data centers continue to play a critical role in the global digital economy, Modine’s advanced cooling solutions will help ensure their efficiency, reliability, and environmental sustainability.

The facility is expected to begin production in mid-2025, with an initial capacity of 10,000 units per year. Modine plans to scale up production in response to market demand, further solidifying its position as a leader in thermal management solutions.
